This very mixed collection includes partial series of business records for the Haslam Foundry and Engineering Co., especially papers concerning A S Haslam's acquisition and use of Bell and Colman's refrigeration equipment patents. A S Haslam's public life is well documented in press cuttings and photographs, including some by his son, A V Haslam. A V Haslam's photographs form an important personal archive. Second World War: Eric Ladds' service in the Derby Home Guard

Mr Ladds was born in 1920 but, working at Smith's the Clockmakers in Derby, was in a reserved occupation and therefore his 2nd World War service was in the Home Guard. These are records of his service and related matters. A little material concerns his work for Smiths. These records were deposited in June 1997.
