CE1 - Abstract of the title of Samuel Ward to several houses in Derby, 1726-1781. - 1795
CT1 - Copy settlement upon the marriage of Samuel Ward of Derby gent (son and heir of Richard Ward of Allestree decd) and Dorothy, daughter of John Hope of Derby, doctor in physick, decd whereby Samuel Ward and Elizabeth Ward, widow (his mother) convey to William Hope of Stafford, doctor in physick (brother of Dorothy) and Richard Ward of Derby, gent (brother of Samuel), two messuages etc. in St Mary's Gate, p. All Saints, Derby being next below and near unto the County Hall (tenants Michael Decon and Joshua Andrews), a malthouse in St Mary's Gate in the occupation of Samuel Ward, a barn stable and fold yard (6 bays of building) situated near the garden of one of the said messuages, a close called Nungreen Croft (3a) being near Nungreen, a croft (1r) with barn thereon (6 bays) being near Nungreen, 26 lands and pikes in Stockbrook Field, Derby, lately inclosed (4a.), 23 lands and pikes or arable ground in Whitecross Field (5a 1r), 5 lands arable ground (3a) in Whitecross Field, 13 lands arable ground (7a) in Whitecross Field 7 lands and pkes of arable ground (3a) in Whitecross Field, 3 lands arable ground (1a) in Whitecross Field, 11 lands arable grounds (5a) in Park Field and 18 lands arable ground (6½a) in Park Field, all in the occupation of Samuel Ward, upon trust to the use of Samuel for his life, then to the use of Dorothy for her life, then to the use of William Hope and Richard Ward for a term of 500 years, then to the use of the first son of the bodies of Samuel and Dorothy, in tail mail, etc. - the term of 500 years, upon trust, if there be issue male and one or more daughters and younger sons, to raise £600 for the portions or such daughters and sons, 30 Apr.
CT2 - Surrender by Dorothy Ward of Derby, widow of Samuel 1756 Ward decd., to Samuel Ward of Richmond (Sy), grocer (her eldest son) - reciting CT1 - premises as CT1, being her jointure, 19 Jan.
CT3-4 - Lease and release by Dorothy Ward and Samuel Ward to Francis Plumptre of the Middle Temple, gent - reciting CT1 - on reciting that Samuel Ward decd. inclosed his open field lands and purchased the severalty thereof (1727) - for docking and barring estates tail, of premises as CT1, except 1r sold to William Turner, to the intent that Plumptre may be tenant for suffering a recovery by Samuel Seawell the elder of London, haberdasher, upon trust to the use of Dorothy Ward for her life, then to the use of Samuel Ward in fee simple, 21/22 Jan. - 1756
CT5 - Copy recovery by Samuel Seawell the elder against Francis Plumtre, of 2 messuages, 3 gardens, 1a land, 20a meadow, 20a pasture and common of pasture in Derby with all tithes arising from 1a meadow and 1a pasture, parcel of the premises, 12 Feb, 29GII. - 1756
CT6 - Copy appointment by Dorothy Ward, widow - whereas by her marriage settlement £600 was settled for the portions of younger sons and daughters (see CT1), subject to her appointment by her husband or herself - to her daughter Dorothy, wife of Joseph Caulton, £100; to her daughter Catherine Ward, £100; to her daughter Elizabeth, wife of Robert Tate, £100; to her daughter Jane, wife of Rev Peter Doranda, £100; to her daughter, Barbara Ward, £100 and to her son John Ward, £50, 16 May. - 1766
CT7 - Release by Dorothy Caulton, John Hill and Catherine his wife, Elizabeth Tate widow, Peter Daranda and Jane his wife, Barbara Ward and John Ward to Samuel Ward, for portions paid to them according to the appointment of Doroth Ward (see CT6), 1 May.
CT8 - Assignment by Rev Charles Hope of Derby (sole executor of Jane Hope of Derby decd. who was executrix of William Hope, decd) to Samuel Ward of Richmond (Sy) gent, - reciting CT1 - of the remainder of a term of 500 years comprised in the marriage settlement of Samuel's parents (see CT1), 8 Oct. - 1781
CT9-10 - Final concord between Edward Ward plt and Samuel Ward and Ann his wife, dfts., of 7 messuages, one stable, 7 gardens, 2a land pasture and common of pasture in p. All Saints, Derby, consideration £120 Morrow of Trinity, 35GIII, 1 Jun. - 1795
CT11-12 - Lease and release by Samuel Ward of Richmond (Sy) esq., and Ann his wife, to Anthony Lax Maynard of Chesterfield, esq., Clerk of the Peace, for the county of Derby, in consideration of £1150, of 3 messuages on the northwardly side of St Mary's Gate, adjoining eastwardly to the County Hall Yard with stable outbuildings etc. (tenants - Holmes, John Webster and William Roe) and 4 messuages on the southwardly side of Walker Lane, with outbuildings, gardens etc. (tenants Widow Wright, Thomas Cattall, Stephen Davenport and Samuel Taft), all in Derby, upon trust to the use and benefit of the County of Derby - covenant to levy a fine to the use of Maynard in trust for the county - covenant for the production of title deeds with schedule of deeds, 1/2 Jun. - 1726-1781
