D3033 - Smisby parish survey and abstract of title - 19th cent

1 - Abstract of title to Smisby church land drawn up in 1833 reciting lease and release 19 and 20 Sep 1794, which mentions levy of fine sur cognizance de droit come ceo, vesting certain open fields in Smisby then held by Samuel Woollatt in Cornelius Matchett, yeoman, John Bryan, yeoman, William Keen, hosier, William Cockram, yeoman and William Barlow, victualler, all of Smisby, in trust to repair church, churchyard and gates, pay bridge and highway maintenance, levies etc chargeable to parish of Smisby; 5 new trustees to be elected on the death of 3 trustees; also reciting lease and release 8 and 9 Sep 1826 from William Keen sole surviving trustee to Marquis of Hastings, Sir George Crewe of Calke Abbey bart, Edward Mammatt of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leics, esq, land agent of Marquis of Hastings, William Smith of Foremark Park, gent, land agent of Sir George Crewe, Thomas Hassall of Hartshorne, gent, William Woodward, yeoman, Benjamin Page, yeoman, Thomas Orton, farmer, all of Smisby, as new trustees, of property as above to same uses. Some marginal comments on legal aspects. Stamped "Received Charity Com Apr 11 1868". - 1833
