1 - (i) Mortgage in fee by lease and release, by which: 1. Thomas Saxelbye of Derby merchant and John Harrison of Derby gentleman (Saxelbye's trustee) mortgaged to 2. Revd Richard Gifford of Makeney, parish Duffield clerk for £700, close in Spondon (about 15 acres) formerly in 2 parts called Upper and Nether Chicken Holme, now called Chicken Holme, late in possession of Richard Sneesby the elder by now of Saxelbye, and which were purchased by Saxelbye from Ricahrd Sneesby the elder late of Duffield then of Borrowash butcher (the eldest son and heir of Richard Sneesby of Spondon tanner by wife Elizabeth daughter of George Brentnall formerly of Duffield, gentleman) and Richard Sneesby the younger late of Birmingham and since of Draycott butcher (eldest son and heir of Richard the elder). Dated 14, 15 December 1803. Mutilated. (ii) Piece of deed of a deed, probably a piece of D2378/MT/1 (i), cut away from the membrance containing the lease - 1803
