D2427 - Ferrers Family of Walton-on-Trent - 1459-1769
1 - Compotus roll, place unidentified, 38 Hen VI - [1459-1460]
2 - Rental of 'Mark in d ....... magna', 19 Hen VIII. Note. One party mentioned is heirs of John Clarke late of Dummowe. The manor can be identified as Merks in Great Dunmow (Essex), held by the Ferrers of Groby family (see History of Essex, ii, 1836 p.214, T Wright) - [1527-1528]
3 - Memorandum to Sir Humphrey Ferrers as 'in commission of peace within this Countie' (Staffordshire) stating that he had not assembled as requested to swear the oaths of supremacy and of the peace, and ordering him to forbear to execute the office of JP 'in this ... Countie' until he brings evidence (of specified sort) that he has taken the oaths, etc.; '... of Nov ...' Damaged but enough text remaining for general import to be clear; four signatories (see below), three signatures remain in full, fourth in part. - [1592]
