Thomas Babyngton of Dethyck [Dethick] and Thomas Holles of Newstead have made an agreement between these parties according to their old customs; a calf to be tithable at 3 weeks and 3 days, lambs to be paid at St Barnabas' day, and tithe geese at Lammas - 1546

9 - Memorandum that whereas there was dissention about the 24th year of Henry [1532-1533] about the course of the coal pits of Blackwell between the officers and bailiffs of Robert Sheffield, knight, and Raphe Longeforthe, knight, who held three parts and one part respectively of the lordship of Blackwell, Roger Greenhalgh and Thomas Leeke were requested to adjudicate between the bailiffs and the farmers and workmen of the pits; they determined that the pits should have their full course "as the sughe gyve leave", and that Sheffield should have three parts of the profits and Longeforthe one part - [late 16th cent]

30 - Copy [contemporary] of articles of agreement between 1. Rt. Hon. John Earl of Clare and the inhabitants of Blackwell and 2. Francis Revell of Carlyngthweyte, reciting an impending indictment in Quarter Sessions concerning a highway coming into a pasture belonging to Blackwell by the west end of a close called Cat Poole Close in the occupation of William Marriot. It is agreed by Rowland Dand and John Gosling and those whose names are subscribed that the highway be mended before 1 Jun next at the joint charge of Mr. Revell and the inhabitants of Blackwell, and that all suits depending are ended at their equal charge. Whereas Mr. Revell supposes that Mr. John Wilkinson hath wronged him it is resolved that Mr. Wilkinson shall before William Woolley, Mr. Dand and Mr. Gosling acknowledge that he has wronged him, if it so appears by law, before 1 Jun at Mansfield (18 March 1646) - [17th cent]

With a draft quitclaim by Elizabeth of the estate and lands [specified] in consideration of her portion - [c1717]

50 - Articles of agreement between Thomas Clarke of Alfreton mason and Robert Revell of Carnfield. Clarke covenants that when the foundation is prepared he will erect at Carnfield a building as directed by Robert, not exceeding 5 yards from the groundwork to the square, at the rates set down in the accompanying table. Revell covenants to prepare the foundation and to find stone, brick, lime, sand, water, scaffolding, ropes etc (except that Clarke is to pay for all stone got upon the High Moor or East Moor). Proviso that Clarke shall not be obliged to slate or cover the building or do work other than that in the table. - 1727

60 - Letter to Joseph Haynes from Robert Wilmot of Osmaston; he wishes to see Edward Revell if he is come out of Staffordshire and returned from Mr. Holden's. A note [? by Haynes] states that [Edward] Revell seemed agreeable to Francis Revell's offer of 50 guineas for joining in the fine, but as Edward is under age Haynes does not see what can be done - 1731

61 - Note by Nathaniel Pigot of the Middle Temple that the deed and will leading the uses of the recovery may be considered as one. Endorsed by Tristram Revell as relating to Francis Revell having the fee of the Chesterfield estate - 1733

62 - Note by Robert Wilmot on uses declared in the 1689 marriage settlement and a later deed concerning the Chesterfield estate - [1733]

63 - Letter to Edward Revell of Alfreton from Francis Revell of Brookhill asking him to come over to discuss "earnest business" - 1736

64-65 - Papers relating to a dispute in Chancery between Edward and Francis Revell. Robert Revell bequeathed his estate to trustees to raise money to pay his debts and to pay his daughter Frances £3,000. The trustees sold part of the estate to pay the debts, reserving the coal upon it. Frances Revell died soon after marrying Strelley Pegge who became entitled to the £3000. Francis Revell, upon the death of his brother Robert entered the estate and pulled down a stable, coach-house and brew-house at Carnfield, felled timber, got coal and sold it. Edward Revell as next remainder-man wished to have it sold to pay the £3000 - [c1736]

66 - Letter to Edward Revell at Clement's Inn from J Downes in Rotherham; the land he intends to dispose of in Alfreton is about 27 acres in the possession of John Clarke. 21 acres of it should have been leased to Clarke for 13 guineas - 1737

67 - Letter to Godfrey Watkinson from Strelley Pegge asking him to pay Robert Wilmot his bill of £12.11.0 out of a sum of £200 put into his hands, with Wilmot's receipt - 1737
