22 - Please write if you want some lead; getting water out of Brandy Bottle is difficult since bottom springs are not low enough to draw water without enormous expense; has heard that lead has made another move as Mr Ashton has just sold 100 tons to London. Dated 22 Apr 1853 - 1853
23 - Got the water out of the bottoms at Wheaston 10 days ago, but the men quarrelled with Mr Flint and refused to work; are now back, with some replaced; the mine should be good if it can be managed for water; Thos. [Flint] is to recommence in Edge Rake Forfield today, where got 6 dishes of very nice ore in last fathom. Dated 23 May - 1853
