Has been to Melbourne to see Mrs Membery in the hope that she would agree to give possession without a legal ejectment but with no success - the ejectment will have to be applied for by 20th otherwise six months will be lost - hopes to be able to return £100 next Monday. - 1743
35 - Letter from Robert Dickinson to 9th Earl of Huntingdon. Has returned £60 by Mr Sleath and sent £100 to Messrs Hoare - Mr Piddock is proceeding in the ejectment of Mrs Membry and thinks he will get possession of the school by Easter - the Countess last year ordered him to arrange for 100,000 bricks to be made at Donnington Park and the clay was dug ready by the Countess who then ordered them to be left alone until the next spring - the brickmaker now wishes to know whether to proceed and if not, he wishes to be paid for digging the clay - he will get a quantity of coppice wood valued and dispose of it. 28 Jan 1743 - 1744
36 - Letter from Robert Dickinson to 9th Earl of Huntingdon. Has made enquiries about the hounds Mr Justice Abney complains of at Ashby and finds that they have been disposed of except 5 or 6 puppies which Seth Bamford has - has also enquired about trees Abney cut down to improve the roads but none of the Packington tenants know anything except Mr Pressburn who wishes the Earl to take down the trees on the other side of the road to those he himself has removed so that he has a better view from his wilderness garden - 50 ash and oak would have to be removed but none are of any great value - will pay the Melbourne tenants £10 as requested, towards the great expense they are out to by the troublesome Mrs Membery, 9 Feb 1744 - 1745
