1 - Deed (full reference: D1129/A/PZ/1/1) relating to the enclosure of Walton on Trent open fields John Ferrers of Walton on Trent (Lord of the Manor and principal owner), William Bedford rector of Walton, Sir Thomas Greisley [Gresley] of Drakelow, Sir Francis Burdett of Foremark, Walter Horton of Catton, Thomas Saunders of Cauldwell/Caldwell, and others reciting that: a) John Ferrers is seised of an estate in the Manor of Walton lying dispersedly in the common fields; b) William Bedford, rector of Walton, is seised of certain glebe land lying dispersedly in the common fields of Walton, and all the tithes in Walton; c) John Ferrers and the rector with the consent of tenants, freeholders and inhabitants of Walton have agreed to a general enclosure of all the common fields; d) the glebe lands lying in the common fields should be exchanged for other lands to be hedged, ditched, etc. at the cost of John Ferrers; e) John Ferrers should have the glebe lands in the common fields and all tithes on the land exchanged for the glebe and the land in the possession of Samuel Whitings of Walton; f) John Ferrers should pay to the rector annually £66 10s [£66.50] in lieu of tithes; g) land (described) is allotted to Rev William Bedford in lieu of glebe; and h) for better secutring the annual sum of £66 10s, John Ferrers should demise to Greisley and the others certain lands in Walton upon trust for 2000 years. 24 Feb 1652/3 - [1653]
