BiographyAccra was a man of African descent who was enslaved at the Grange Hill plantation in Jamaica. Malcolm Laing bought Accra from William Gray in 1769 and sent him to Grange Hill. His name suggests that he may have originated from modern-day Ghana, possibly having been imprisoned in one of the slave forts of Accra before being transported to Jamaica. He was recorded at Grange Hill in 1771 and 1777; in 1777 he was working in the fields.
