History | The School was founded by Thomas Camm who, in 1702, settled property on trustees to use the income for the establishment of a school for poor children after his death. George Sitwell added to the endowment in 1775. Girls were admitted in 1880 and a separate infants department created in 1889. Later, the departments united to form a mixed infants school. In 1974, the Victorian school closed to be replaced by a purpose-built structure to accommodate 280 infants and juniors and 50 nursery pupils. The new school was opened by the Bishop of Derby on 27 June 1975. |
