History
The LNWR was incorporated in 1846 on the amalgamation of London and Birmingham Railway, Grand Junction Railway and Manchester and Birmingham Railway.
In 1923, it became a constituent of the London, Midland and Scottish (LMS) railway.
When the rail industry was nationalised in 1948 it became part of the London Midland Region of British Railways.
