At the time of the Domesday survey Shardlow was a berewick or hamlet of the manor of Weston which was part of the King’s own demesnes. In 1540 the Christopher Hunt is supposed to have died possessed of the manor of Shardlow. It was later purchased from the Hunt family by the Holden family, possibly in the mid-17 century. In 1895 Charles S. Holden is said to be lord of the manor.
