Description
The Toleration Act 1 Wm and M c18 (1688) obliged dissenting congregations to register their places of meeting with the bishop or archdeacon or with the justices of the peace. An Act of 52 Geo IV c 155 (1812) required that places registered should also be returned to the alternative registration authority.
Requests for the registration of Protestant dissenting meeting houses for places as below often signed by several persons
