Administrative HistoryAt the time of 1911 census, Micah How is described as a Joiner and Calament [Cabinet] maker, born in Castleton. He and his wife, Elizabeth (nee Unwin), were married in December 1866 and had six children. At the time of his marriage, Micah is described as a Cooper, as is his father James. Micah's baptism record at Castleton on 23 January 1842 gives his date of birth as 5 December 1841 and surname as Howe.

Amongst his jobs were a large candle stand, made out of the four poster bed, a Bishop's Crook and a chair once positioned by the altar rail, all for the Parish church of St Peter at Hope. There was a sliver tablet made in his memory. The workbook contains descriptions of ocal people and places, as welll as the many jobs which Mr. How undertook.

These papers belonged to a former builder and carpenter who worked in the Hope area from the late 19th century to the 1910s.
