Administrative HistoryA cottage home for boys was opened at Park Side in 1905. The name probably changed from Belper Boys' Home to Meadow Bank c.1948. The home originally accommodated 15 boys, in 1953 the number of beds reduced from 14 to 12. In 1969 it was proposed that a new home in Swadlincote (Linden House) should replace Meadow Bank, and this home closed in Sep 1970 (see DCC/SC/1/7).
Custodial HistoryDCC/SC/1/14/1/1 was transferred from Linden House Children's Home in Sep 2016. DCC/SC/1/14/1/2 was transferred in Apr 2018 having been found in a Children's Services office at the County Offices in Matlock. It would appear that when Meadow Bank closed in Sep 1970, some records were transferred to Linden House as it was replacing the home in Belper, and other records were transferred to the main department in Matlock.
