DescriptionOriginally known as the Castle Donnington airport committee, there was a Joint committee appointed to deal with the setting-up and running of the airport. Five authorities were involved: Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire County Councils and Derby and Nottingham City Councils. At the meeting in June 1964 the name East Midlands Airport was adopted.
