Description | The Town and Country Planning Act 1947 repealed most previous planning legislation and provided a new planning code. County and county borough councils became the sole local planning authorities, ensuring that development progressed in accordance with the land uses proposed in the Development Plan. Area sub-committees were set up in 1966 (see 1/59/1-6), also a countryside sub-committee to deal with conservation of natural amenities (see 1/60/1-2) and an Elvaston estate management joint committee (see 1/67/1) to deal with the running of the castle and estate after its purchase. For supplementary volumes relating to the minutes covering 1958-1969, see D919/C/1/78. |
