Description | The 1911 National Insurance Act gave counties the power to build and maintain sanatoria and other tuberculosis treatment institutions. In Derbyshire, the committee was set up in 1913, taking over from the Sanatorium Sub-Committee. The committee ceased to meet in 1948, when its functions were taken over by the Health committee (see 1/47/1-8) and Joint Medical Services sub-committee (see 1/44/1-2). In addition to the dispensaries around the county, the committee dealt with the Walton Sanatorium and Bretby Hall Orthopaedic Hospital. |
