Description | This committee exercised the County Council's powers and duties under the Finance Act 1908, which transferred to county and county borough councils the collection of duties on the following licences: killing and dealing in game; gun licences; dog licences; and establishment licences (i.e. for armorial bearings, male servants and carriages). Most of the committee's business related to motor vehicles and drivers, responsibilities for the registration of cars and motorcycles and for granting driving licences. Early minutes include a detailed register of offences, put before the committee. |
