Description | The 1888 Local Government Act, sec. 13 transferred from quarter sessions to county councils execution of statutes relating to weights and measures - both in providing local standards of measure and weight, and in sampling and examination. Between 1926 and 1948, responsibility for these functions was transferred to the Public Health and Housing committee (see 1/13/3-4). In 1948, a separate committee was again set up. In 1968, the Public Protection committee took over these powers (see 1/70/1) |
