TitlePill box made from painted card
Date[19th cent]
DescriptionThis small and shallow pill box is made from card. The edge of the bottom half is covered in gold paper. The upper half has also been edged with gold paper, with the top painted blue with gold flowers and dotted designs. It appears as if there was a decoration glued to the centre, which has since fallen off. Inside the box are ten small disks which measure less than a centimetre in diameter, possibly made from painted card.

The box may have been made by a member of the Gell family, or it may be a souvenir acquired on holiday or by Lady Franklin (1791-1875) on her travels.
