Travelled from London (19 Oct 1828) via Calais, Rouen, Paris (left 7 Nov), Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseilles, Genoa, Florence, arriving at Naples Christmas Day; on tiring of Naples he moved to Mola, then Albano; started again on 20 April, via Viterbo, Lake Bolsena, Siena, Florence, Bologna, Venice, Padua, Bolzano, Munich, Augsburg, Stuttgart, Heidelberg, Cologne, Calais, returning to London; he left London again on 3 Sep 1829 (travelling with John Boileau, going to Calais, Rheims, Freiburg, Zurich, Berne, Arona, Milan, Piacenza (without Boileau any more), Parma, Bologna, Florence, Pisa (where he "remained the winter dull, stupid and always windy"), Leghorn, back to Pisa, Florence, Modena, Mantua, Verona, Brescia, Como, Feldkirch, Baden, , Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Verdun, Rheims, ending with Calais
