Written from 60 Pall Mall; complaint at non-reply to her request for a delay in the adjudication of award of £10,000 to Dr Rae, which did not allow her to proceed with planning for any expedition of he own and provoked uncertainty for a potential benefactor prepared to provide finances; her opinion, backed by Captains Collinson and Maguire, that an expedition via the Bering Strait could be successful
