| Administrative History | John Augustus Francis Simpkinson (1780-1851) was an eminent London barrister, later a celebrated judge. In 1814 he married Mary Griffin (sister of Jane Griffin, later Lady Franklin) : they had two sons, John Nassau and Francis Guillemard, and three daughters who lived to adulthood, Mary Louisa, Emma Jane and Marianne Jane. In 1845 he was knighted. |
