Mr dear Eleanor
We returned to town on Monday evening, having learnt but a poor account fo your looks from Louisa Simpkinson. I was anxious to have called on you at once but so many things require to be attended to on first returning home after a long absence that I have not been able to to put my wishes into execution - besides that I am at present rather weak & ailing. Selfishly I wish much yoe were living near me. Does not the rumour of the safety of the Expedition make your heart beat wildly? If true, I suppose my Uncle may be in England even while I write - have you seen the Esquimaux sketch of the ships?
Can you and Mr Gell come to us on Wednesday evening to meet Mr and Mrs Owen, they are coming to spend a quiet evening with us. While at Eastbourne I frequently saw Anna Dixon, what a very pleasing person she is - merely meeting her from time to time on Bedford Place I never took to her, so I am glad to have had the oportunity of changing my opinion.
Remember me kindly to Mr Gell and believe my dear Eleanor
Your affectionate cousin
Anne Weld
