Transcript or Index	Letter from Mrs Price Norfolk Island 1844 (in pencil) My dear Eleanor I always promise you long letters but by some means or other I generally contrive to write short ones – my scribble to you this time will not be very long as the size of my paper sufficiently indicates. Many thanks to you for your two kind notes – I send you a small collection of ferns & a picture which I must beg you to return to Sophy as it belonged to poor Tom. It was brought with us here by mistake and I have not had till now an opportunity of sending it back. I cannot tell you anything about our plans – We are very unsettled at present. I trust that a few months more will decide whether we return to V.D. Land or not. Great changes have taken place in V.D.L. since we left it. Mr Fraser has lost his situation; also Dr Turnbull & I believe Mr Power. You may perhaps have heard of Sir E. Wilmot’s death. He was sadly used by the home Govt. He never held up his head after the disgrace put upon him. Freddy sends his love to you. You would not know him were you to see him now – he will be as tall as I am, if he grows at the same rate he has done since he has been here. I had intended writing to my Uncle by this ship but I find I have not time. I shall postpone my letter to the next vessel & enclose to you. Give my love to Anne Weld and Uncle Sellwood & Emily when you see them. I enclose a small parcel to Uncle Booth which I must beg you to have conveyed to him or rather will you give it to him when you see him. I must now conclude my dear Eleanor – Mr Price & myself unite in kind love to you Believe me Ever your affectionate cousin M Price.
