She grieves at Eleanor's position as to her poor Mama, but feels kindly towards for her for Eleanor's father's sake, since she has worked herself up into such a state of excitement and does not have the consolation of God. Isabella excuses her Sophy for her part in the painful affair, proceeding solely from the hoping to comfort and assist Eleanor's Mama and out of the deep affection for her uncle. She assures Sophy has not urged Eleanor's Mama's "wild scheme", only followed her wishes with the hope of soothing her "excited feelings". She is surprised she had not had the truth spoken to her in reference to the private expedition by Sir E. Parry, who must have seen it from the beginning in the light of every other sober person, but did not convey that impression in a letter of his she read. She is sending a pair of slippers to Eleanor. She will be be glad to help Eleanor in any way and gives her kindest love to her "beloved One".
