Title | Letter from Harriet Sim to her relation Eleanor Isabella Gell, relating to Eleanor taking on Caroline Petitt in the household on trial |
Date | 24 Aug 1852 |
Description | Eleanor's letter has been forwarded to Scotsburn in Ross-shire and then on to Banff, which is why her answer has been delayed. She will write to Mrs Petitt about situation, if any other girl has not been chosen since; they left home 3 weeks ago, and joined the Gells at Edinburgh, who will return to Duffield, starting tomorrow; sorry there is feeling for opposition from Mr Gell to John's accepting the bishopric of Canterbury Settlement; her brother's motives are right in the sight of God and when he feels strongly about a subject, he always expresses himself strongly. |
