Administrative History | Clay Cross Hippodrome Ltd was incorporated in 1922 and The Hippodrome opened in 1925 with seating for over 800. In 1929, the company purchased the other two cinemas in the town (The Kino and the Palace). New sound equipment was installed in 1930 and the venue was redecorated in 1937. New projection equipment was installed in 1939. The venue did not re-open following a fire on 22 February 1940. |
