Administrative HistoryThe first meeting of the General Committee took place on 3 January 1893 at the Falcon Cafe, Chesterfield, a Provisional Committee having been formed at a Special Meeting of gentlemen representative of various Religious Denominations at Miss Brooker's Refreshment Rooms on Knifesmithgate on 21 Oct 1892.

The YMCA had been formed in London in 1844, spreading to provincial cities from 1845.
Custodial HistoryThis record was presented to Chesterfield Borough Library in 1940 by Alderman Haslam and transferred to Derbyshire Record Office in February 2018.
