Administrative HistoryThe Chesterfield Settlement was a residential settlement founded by Violet Markham in 1902. It was wound up in 1957.
Custodial HistoryThese records were transferred from Chesterfield Library: Local Studies in August 2016. The records were presumably deposited at Chesterfield Public Library after the settlement was wound in 1957.
ArrangementThe arrangement of the catalogue is based on the original list from Chesterfield Library, which may have been produced by an archivist at Derbyshire Record Office in the 1970s or 1980s. All items in the original list were numbered consecutively rather than according to series. However, the list itself was formatted according to series, and this has largely been reflected in the current arrangement of the catalogue, with some minor exceptions where material ought to be added to existing series but had not been.
