Title
Folder of conserved pages lead industry lot and cope account books
Date
1810s
Description
Lot, cope and tithe accounts for lead ore raised and measured in 1810 and 1811 in the following liberties: Elton, Haddon, Hartle, Hazlebadge, Middleton [by Youlgreave], Stanton, Winster and Youlgreave, with separate accounts for Winster Brown Ore. There is no detailed information for Middleton, although it is recorded in summaries.
Ore measured in Hartle and Youlgreave is measured in tons and hundredweight. Elsewhere it is recorded in loads and dishes (one load equals nine dishes). The rates of duty ore are recorded for lot, and where relevant for tithe also.
The pages in this folder have been damaged, but fully repaired. However, some pages have been so seriously affected by damp as to render them completely illegible. Fragments which could not be matched to any page have been encapsulated in Melinex (plastic film) and are stored in the same folder.
