Title	Junction Arts youth work and schools file: Diversify

Description	The Diversify project focused on 3 areas of Bolsover district: Bolsover, Tibshelf and South Normanton, and aimed to involve young people exploring issues of race, gender and identity, with people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds acting as "BME Cultural Ambassadors". The project profile created for Diversify suggested it be funded by Community Cohesion (Government Office East Midlands), with other funding possibly coming from Bolsover District Council and Stonewall through the Citizenship 21 Initiative. The initial phase of the project was to work on "Asian and Chinese arts" and its end products were featured in the 2002 Bolsover Lantern Parade. A second phase focused on Afro Caribbean culture. Diversify was followed by a larger project, entitled "Diversify - Voices & Light", funded by a £24,900 from the Heritage Lottery Fund's Young Roots programme. Its stated aim was "to bring together schools, youth groups, artists, teachers and volunteers [to] develop skills whilst engaging in issue-based arts activity". The records are contained in four folders: D7913/6/6/31/1: notes, correspondence and other papers including detailed financial breakdown and summary of invoices for Heritage Lottery Fund, timetable for Diversify Day at Bolsover School in Oct 2004 (involving workshops in African Dance, Asian Dance with Vina Ladwa, Street Dance and Break Dance, in preparation for a performance at Bolsover Castle) draft contract with Jez Hill Folk Industries for production of a video with Year 10 students from Bolsover School, evaluation reports written by the students, press release, contract with artist Jay Pollitt, and an overview document describing the Asian Dance Project. Includes summary of projected costs, copy of sections of an application for funding (incomplete) and project profiles describing the following: Bolsover Lantern Parade and Festival of Christmas 2002, Diversify, Diverify - Voices and Light, Bolsover Lantern Festival Media Project, Asian Dance Project D7913/6/6/31/3: "Progress and Reports" folder containing papers including progress report for the Heritage Lottery Fund dated 24 Jun 2004, with copies of financial paperwork D7913/6/6/31/4: "Supporting Info" folder, including list of contracted artists summarising the terms on which they were employed
