Title
Junction Arts youth work and schools file: Splash Connections and other papers relating to the Positive Activities for Young People programme (PAYP).
Date
2003-2004
Description
Splash Connections was a project within the Positive Activities for Young People programme (PAYP). PAYP was designed as a national programme covering all school holiday periods, aimed at young people aged 8 to 19 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs). It was set up by the central government Department of Culture Media and Sport and the Youth Justice Board, with the aim of "diverting young people from taking part in criminal activities, and giving those at risk of being socially excluded a chance to fulfil their potential". A pilot project based at Bolsover Assembly Hall Community Centre hosted three workshop programmes in Graffiti Art, Mural Painting and music. The file includes an overview of the project, correspondence, printed programme for 2003 and 2004 school holiday activities within Bolsover District, Connexions Derbyshire's 2003 guide aimed for advisers and partners in "uproject" described as "the new name for Derbyshire Summer Activities for Young People", a photocopy of an article about Splash by Stovin Hayter, proposals for future projects, minutes of a PAYP Steering Group meeting at Bolsover District Council on 18 May 2004
