Title | Junction Arts youth work and schools file: graffiti projects |
Date | 2002 |
Description | This project aimed to use graffiti art to raise the skills and self-esteem of young people in Shirebrook. The end product envisaged was a series of graffiti panels and a short film documenting the creation process. The project was managed by the Youth Connect Steering Group, Harley Gallery and Shirebrook School, with Maggie Braley leading for Junction Arts. Funding came from the Single Regenration Budget, Community Cohesion (Government Office East Midlands) and the Regional Arts Lottery Programme (RALP). The file includes a project profile giving an overview of the project, timetable for workshops, colour photograph thumbnail sheet showing images of graffiti work being created by young artists, participant evaluation forms, notes and correspondence. Correspondence includes a letter of 26 Oct 2004 from Councillor Brian Murray-Carr, Cabinet Member for Community Safety in Bolsover District Council, reporting suggestions that the running of the project has coincided with an increase in unauthorised graffiti in the town centre. |
