Title
Junction Arts creative education file: Community Arts Leaders/"Local People, Local Skills"
Date
2002-2008
Description
Community Arts Leaders (later Community Arts Leadership) was a project led by a dedicated steering group in partnership with Bolsover District Cultural Forum.
It provided training for people to lead arts projects, and to develop the arts infrastructure in Bolsover district.
Its stated aim was to deliver 37 project support sessions in "youth and community settings", 18 sessions linked to festivals, 6 "open access skill share sessions in art forms", 5 training sessions in art forms and 3 event management skill sessions. The outcomes hoped for included increased take-up of cultural and sporting opportunities and a reduction in the proportion of young people not in education, employment or training.
There is some overlap with an earlier drive to get people learning and sharing art skills, known as "Local People, Local Skills", which was in operation in the early 2000s and involved the delivery of courses in Bolsover and Shirebrook, as well as the Clowne North Derbyshire Tertiary College. It has not been possible to make an accurate separation of papers deriving from "Local People, Local Skills" and "Community Arts Leaders", so the records have been kept as a single artificial series.
