Title
Junction 28 Music group file: Eastern Orchestral Board - "Get Connected"
Date
2004-2005
Description
The Eastern Orchestral Board was a development agency which aimed to give communities access to the work of professional orchestras, in the East, East Midlands and South East of England. In the early 2000s, the Eastern Orchestral Board received lottery funding to commission a series of concerts and associated community projects across the regions it served. In the East Midlands, the project worked on either side of the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border, with Junction Arts being called upon to "develop a network of skilled music practitioners who can work with young people". The papers in this file derive from this function and include information on the recruitment of Peer Mentors for the Bolsover district, and written responses to evaluation questionnaires written by 13- to 15-year olds who had been taking part in a project with London Sinfonietta. Other records include:
Draft application from the Eastern Orchestral Board to the National Foundation for Youth Music (Plug Into Music 2002-2005), for "Get Connected";
Spiral-bound evaluation report on "Connected" by Eastern Orchestral Board (29 pages);
Correspondence and meeting notes, c2004-2005
Proposal for Get Connected Project, Summer 2005, and "Myths and Magic Concert", Bolsover Castle, 31 Jul 2005. Junction Arts and Eastern Orchestral Board organised the events with ViVA, described as "the orchestra of the East Midlands". Events were to include a summer school led by composter Andrew Williams in which participants (aged 12 to 25) use music technology to create a sound installation at Bolsover Castle.
