Description
D7913/3/4/5/1:
Folder of black and white contact sheets and negatives of photographs mainly by Anthony Fisher, depicting life in the South Normanton area, all dating from 1980. The photographs are in poor condition. Some have been marked in coloured pen as selected for development. Subjects indicated in captions include the following:
"Simon and Liz puppet theatre";
"Dustbin men" (documentary photographs showing refuse collectors at work);
Photographs by Lyndon Groom, "postman, at home, interview" and "post-lady" showing a postal worker at work;
"Graffiti and Adverts and Welfare, near New Street";
"The Bakehouse, New Street, formally [sic] Knights";
"The Bakehouse School fire, Art Department";
"Stoppard's Bakery";
"Hawthorne's Darts Match and Ray (Gravedigger)";
"R Naylor's coal and newest disco", contact sheet of photographs showing coal being delivered and of young people at a disco evening possibly at the New Street Centre;
"ECP Farm";
"Bonfire - Windmill etc";

Folder of photographs and other papers relating to the South Normanton and Pinxton Pigeon Project, 1985-1986. The project's co-ordinator was Tim Baker, Junction Arts worker. The project involved the publication of "pigeon reminiscences" (i.e. memories of pigeon breeders/racers), and aimed to take photographs of every pigeon loft in South Normanton and Pinxton. The folder includes numerous photographic prints, negatives and contact sheets showing pigeon lofts, as well as some correspondence and project newsletters.
