Title"Combine: Farming Heritage East Midlands"
Datec2012
DescriptionA pilot project for "Combine" was undertaken with pupils from Shirebrook Academy in 2010, during a series of visits to Hill Top Farm in Ashover to learn about traditional skills and explore contemporary rural life. The full project, two years later, was far more ambitious, working across six counties in the East Midlands: Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire. The activities tackled by young people during the course of the project included: farm and cattle market visits, falconry, map-making, museum and record office visits (including work with Derbyshire Record Office), hedge planting, pork pie making, oral history collection, stone carving, and wattle and daub construction. "Combine" was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Natural England, Media Archive for Central England, Arts Council England, Derbyshire County Council and Bolsover District Council.
