DescriptionThe sketch map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012).. The description reads as follows:

[Panoramic sketch of N. side of Lathkill Dale 1754-5]. Scale: Plan is drawn by 20 yards in one Inch [1:720]. Size: 16 x 21 cm. Materials: ink on paper. Centred on: SK193660 Notes: mining plan showing vein as it runs up the hillside with 'drift' and 'sump', hachure style marking denoting slope, rocks and trees above, river: a loose sheet in a lead mining account book of 1754 separated for safe keeping. Location: DRO, D7676/BagC/512

At the time of the Wiltshire/Woore revision, the map was held at Sheffield Archives alongside the rest of the Bagshaw collection, but could not be found. It has come to light again since the collection was transferred to Derbyshire Record Office. As at 2017, the location of the cash book is unknown.
