This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A Survey taken of the Land in Beard and Oulersitt belonging to Rand: Ashenhurst Esq., by Robert Hopkin, Edward Lingard and Richard Marshall in the years 1676 and 1690 which in all doth contain 1057 acres 1 rood 33 oerches which . Surveyor: Robert Hopkin, Edward Lingard and Richard Marshall. Scale: of 64 Perches, of 16 Chains [l:3200] with dividers. Size: 68 x 68 cm. Materials: ink on parchment, cracked in places and stained, backed on linen. Centred on: SK015850 Notes: cardinal points at edges, top of sheet east. Estate plan showing named closes with areas, woods, houses in elevation, roads: River Goyt: Beard Moor divided by grade, worst and middle, and partitioned between tenants and King: endorsed 'An accurate map of the several lands in the Ancient Mannour and Entire Liberty of Beard situate within the parish of Glossop, Derbyshire': surveyor's note shows use of statute chain and its measurement.
