| Description | 1. Documents acquired by Benjamin and EG Bagshawe for their antiquarian interest. Benjamin Bagshawe, particularly in his early life in the 1870s was planning a history of the High Peak; his son was concerned mainly with a pedigree of the family of Bagshawe, widespread in the Peak District. In pursuit of these hobbies, they collected deeds and other documents, the most important being items acquired from the Bateman sale and the muniments of the Eyres of Hassop Hall. It has not been possible to discover the origins of all the other documents.
2. Notes of Benjamin and EG Bagshawe from documents in the British Museum, Public Record Office and other in private hands, which were relevant to their Derbyshire studies. Also contain antiquarian correspondence.
3. William Wyatt of Foolow (d. 1857), mineral agent, solicitor, and owner of lead mining interests. Papers include lead mining account books, maps and other, 18th-early 19th century. Benjamin Bagshawe's father was the cousin and executor of William Wyatt.
4. Solicitor's and other business papers of Wyatt, Bagshawe, et. al. Clients include the Derbyshire families of Barker, Carleill and Middleton. Wyatt and Bagshawe were both active in Liberal and later Unionist politics. Bagshawe acted as Libreral-Unionist agent for the Hallamshire and Doncaster Divisions, 1885-1905 and there is some correspondence relating to these activities. He also appears to have acquired the business papers of the Hall family, old established solicitors of Castleton, of Brown solicitor of Tideswell, and of Richard Heyward, surveyor of Bakewell. |

| Administrative History | Benjamin Bagshawe's family lived in Foolow, in the parish of Eyam. He himself was a Sheffield solicitor, as was his son. Their connections with Foolow remained close, and it was their Derbyshire background and interests which produced this collection. |
| Custodial History | This collection was transferred to Derbyshire Record Office by Sheffield Archives in July 2013. Sheffield City Libraries obtained the collection from two sources;- donation in Autumn 1956 from the executors of Mr EG Bagshawe, who died in August 1956; a bookseller.
