Description
Mainly photographs of soldiers lost or wounded during active service in World War One. The majority are from the Wirksworth area, but others listed come from towns such as Middleton-by-Wirksworth, Hopton, Brassington and Kirk Ireton. A small number of cuttings provide information on the soldier in question along with reporting the circumstances of his death. Also includes two articles on unwanted letters received by Derbyshire soldiers from "S.S.S", Wirksworth, who sends religious pamphlets.
