Administrative HistoryThese papers derive from the involvement of British Electrical Repairs Ltd (LEWIS BERL), a Chesterfield company founded in 1919, in the work of Chesterfield College's Employer Liaison Unit. The unit (formerly the Industrial Short Course Unit) was set up to "encourage greater links and co-operation between employers and Chesterfield College", providing business advice and arranging staff training. LEWIS BERL's involvement was limited to one of the committees responsible to the Unit: the School of Automobile and Electrical Engineering Industrial Liaison Committee (formerly the Electrical/Mechanical Industrial Liaison Committee). When the college was restructed in 2002, the committee was replaced by the Engineering and Construction Committee. As of that year, there were a further 6 liaison committees: Art and Design; Leisure, Hospitality, Recreation and Business; Personal Presentation; Caring for People; Schools; Community.
Custodial HistoryThese records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in September 2009
