| Administrative History | The Derbyshire Churches and Church of North India Partnership began in 1977. In order to widen their outlook the leaders of the Anglican, Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Churches in Derbyshire suggested that it might be possible to "twin" with a United Church somewhere in the world in which all four denominations were involved. The church chosen was the Church of North India.
In 1983 the Greater Allestree Group of Churches formed a specific link with Nagpur, in the centre of India, called the Nagpur Link. There, through a partnership with the Industrial Service Institute (ISI) work is done with the landless poor in development work in rural communities, environmental protection and community health and education projects.
The following records are mainly concerned with the Nagpur Link and their partnership with the ISI, and include information on collaborative projects and visits to Nagpur and Derbyshire by representatives of both groups. |
