Archive CreatorDerby Community Transport
Administrative HistoryDerby Community Transport was formed in 1981, at a meeting which brought together representatives of a diverse range of charitable and community organisations whose members shared a need for transport services. Its aim was to establish a transport service for Derby and the surrounding areas, particularly for older people and people with disabilities. In 1992, Derby Community Transport became both a registered charity and an incorporated company. The following year, it set up Derby Integrated Transport Services Ltd., intended to be a profit-making subsidiary providing services outside the scope of a charitable company.

The company operated services known as Dial-a-Bus and Dial-a-Ride, offering regular escorted trips for shopping etc. In the Ashbourne area, it traded under the name of Ashbourne Community Transport, until 2000 when control of these services was transferred to Friends of Ashbourne Community Transport.

Derby Community Transport ceased operations in August 2008, when most of its services were taken over by a private company
