Administrative HistoryNetherthorpe Grammar Schol was founded in 1572 by Margaret Frenchville. It was enlarged in 1900 by additions of chemistry and physics laboratories, workshops, kitchens and lecture rooms. The new school was erected in 1931. In 1906 a new increased endowment meant that the school was administered under a scheme of Charity Commissioners by a board of governors. Today Netherthorpe is a grant maintained school.
