Administrative HistoryThe Church was dedicated in 1883 and, along with Handley, was a daughter Church of Clay Cross Parish.

The boundaries of the Parish extend north from Lathkill Grove up to Thanet Street, west across Pilsley Road, and south down Cemetery Road and Springvale Road.

In 2007 the St. Barnabas Church & Hall was replaced by the St. Barnabas Centre. Dedicated in 2008 by the Bishop of Derby, the Centre is an integrated community facility with space for nursery, training, and general community meetings, including a bar area.
