Administrative HistoryThe first meeting of what was to become Ripley Provident, Industrial and Co-operative Society was held in a founding member's home in March 1860. It was first registered as the Butterley Society. Branches were later established at Ripley, Codnor, Somercotes, Swanwick, Riddings, Alfreton, Westwood (Nottinghamshire) and Heanor.
